OutDry – the quantum leap in membrane technology

What is OutDry?

OutDry is the name of a unique manufacturing process for waterproof and breathable clothing and footwear: the prefabricated membrane is heat-bonded to the outer fabric of a boot shaft, for example, from the inside. This means there are simply no gaps for moisture to get in, and seams in the outer shell are sealed at the same time. The end result is a thin, extremely elastic membrane.

What are the advantages of OutDry?

• OutDry makes gloves and boots extremely waterproof: the 3D laminating process virtually eliminates the need for seams, thus removing potential weak points in the moisture barrier.
• OutDry optimises breathability: there are no seams to be taped, so OutDry utilises the water vapour permeability of the membrane surface to the full. What's more, there is no gap for water to penetrate between fabric and membrane, which would reduce breathability.
• OutDry gives enhanced insulation: no moisture between fabric and membrane means no clammy, cold feel against the skin. There is space for an insulating air cushion between the fabric and your skin to keep you warm while riding your motorbike. So the cold airstream does not get beyond the outer shell.
• OutDry prevents moisture absorption: as no water can get between the membrane and the outer fabric, you will find that gloves and boots equipped with OutDry technology dry out considerably quicker.
• OutDry enables an optimum fit and superb wearing comfort: the elasticity of the ultra-thin membrane allows it to mould itself seamlessly to the shape of the boot or glove – quite literally. This means no folds, no seams – in fact, nothing that might affect comfort or reduce the space available for the lining.
• OutDry is environmentally friendly: the membrane is free of harmful fluorocarbon compounds (PTFE and PFOA). It is also easy to detach again and is fully recyclable.
